Matthew 7:12-14 NLT
The Golden Rule
12 “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.
The Narrow Gate
13 “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell[a] is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. 14 But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.
6 The two disciples did as Jesus commanded. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt to him and threw their garments over the colt, and he sat on it.[a]
8 Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting,
“Praise God[b] for the Son of David!
Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Praise God in highest heaven!”[c]
10 The entire city of Jerusalem was in an uproar as he entered. “Who is this?” they asked.
11 And the crowds replied, “It’s Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
In this Palm Sunday message, Pastor Ben explores the final installment of the “Formed” series, focusing on Jesus’s teachings from Matthew 7. Ben illustrates how Jesus offers the narrow path that leads to life through the Golden Rule and staying on God’s trail. Contrasting Jesus’s humble Palm Sunday entrance with Pilate’s parade of power, he reminds us that following Jesus’s way—though narrow—brings true life.
